His Excellency President Bashar Hafez Assad held talks here Sunday
with Mr. Ricardo Alarcon Di Kisada, President of the National
Association of the Popular Authority (Parliament) in the friendly
Cuba.
Mr. Kisada conveyed the greetings of President Fidel Castro to
President Assad, who reciprocated the greetings.
Talks dealt with conditions in the region and circumstances
surrounding both countries, as well as the friendship relations
binding Syria and Cuba, founded by the late president, Hafez Assad
and President Castro.
The Cuban official expressed appreciation for Syria's principled and
firm stances on just causes in the region as well as in the world.
Premier Miro earlier received the Cuban official for talks on
cementing and enlarging standing relations between Syuria and Cuba at
all fields.
Assistant Secretary General of the Baa'th Arab Socialist Party,
Abdullah Al-Ahmar met Kisada on current developments in the Arab
arena and the Carribean and on standing relations between the Baa'th
Party and the Cuban Communisdt Party.
Stress was laid upon the importance of solidarity in the face of
hegemony bids and on the erlimination of huge gaps between the haves
and the havenots.
Al-Ahmar reiterated Syria's rejection for the embargo and sanctions
imposed on Cuba, Iraq and on Libya.
The Cuban Parliament Speaker arrived yesterday in a several day
visit to Syria where he was received by his Syrian counterpart, Abd
Al-Qader Qaddoura.
Qaddoura and Kisada held talks Sunday on standing relations of
friendship between both coutries especially the parliamentarian ones
and ways of boosting them.
Foreign Minister, Farouk Al-Sharaa' held talks with the Cuban
official on current developments at the international arena
especially in the Middle East and the Carribean as well as on
standing bilateral relations between both friendly countries.
