On the last day of his trip to Cuba, Mr Adams was holding talks with
Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque, who had regularly insisted that one
member of the trio, Niall Connolly, was a Sinn Fein representative despite
republican denials.
Mr Adams was later forced to admit that Mr Perez Roque was right - Mr
Connolly was the party's envoy to Cuba.
Today's talks came as the American ambassador to the UK criticised Mr
Adams for meeting Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
William Farish, who was in Belfast to deliver a message of support from
President George Bush to a Christmas peace gathering last night, said the
Cuban visit was unhelpful.
He said: "You combine Colombia and September 11 and now the visit to
Cuba, it certainly isn't a positive thing.
"But we are looking at the big picture. We are moving forward and I think
there have been things Sinn Fein have done in the near recent time that
have been very positive, and that is what we are after."
Mr Adams met Mr Castro twice during his four-day visit. He arrives back in
Ireland tomorrow.
Mr Adams' meeting with Senor Roque will be the last he will have with a
high ranking Cuban official.
He was also due to visit a paediatric hospital. Yesterday the West Belfast
MP unveiled a memorial to 10 IRA hunger strikers who died in 1981.
