Cuban lawmakers are expected to debate anti-terrorism legislation during the next session of the People's Assembly scheduled to begin Dec. 20, officials said Wednesday.
Legislators are presently reviewing the bill for a final time prior to the debate, Assembly Secretary Ernesto Suarez told Granma,
the official government daily.
According to Suarez, this could mark the first time anti-terrorism legislation is enacted in Cuba.
The bill established the types of acts that constitute terrorism and, in turn, suggests possible punishments.
In response to a U.N. request, Cuba on Oct. 4 adopted 12 international anti-terrorism treaties proposed by the United Nations.
