The terrorist path to the U.S. is emerging:
Start Point:
Middle East (primarily Iraq)
Transit:
European or Russian Transatlantic Flights (under cover of tourist flows)
Transit:
Terrorist Aligned or Porous Border Latin American Countries:
Venezuela (1), Cuba (2) , Peru, etc.
Transit:
By Commuter Planes, Auto, Commerical Shipping to Mainland U.S.
Versus Canadian border entry, the above scenario would be considered a
much lower security/profile risk for arab travelers, and provides for various alternate entry options and possible safe havens.
(1) Venezuela - Like Castro, Chavez recently met with Iraq and other
middle-eastern regimes.
CNN reports today that dozens of bank accounts in Venezuela are
suspected of being
linked to Bin Laden, and are being blocked by U.S. authorities.
(2) Cuba - also used by planners as safe harbor, as intelligence gathering
hub (ref. DIA and WASP networks) and for planning.
Frequent tourist flights in and out of Cuba via Mexico, Jamaica and
other Caribbean Island should
be scrutinized by U.S. investigators. Like Venezuela, Cuba's banking
system is very accommodating for
money laundering operations (drug money).
